Zimmer Persona Knee Replacement Recall

Zimmer Persona Knee Replacement Recall

Are you having problems with your knee implant? Recently, a recall was issued for a part called the Trabecular Metal Tibial Plate in the Zimmer Persona Knee Replacement. Internal parts are loosening and patients are experiencing premature failure requiring revision surgery. Currently, Zimmer has recalled about 11,700 of the Persona Knee Replacements.

These particular replacements have been available since 2012, and were recently recalled by the FDA on March 12, 2015.

What is the Zimmer Persona Personalized Knee System?

The Zimmer Persona Personalized Knee System is a semi-constrained modular knee prosthesis designed to resurface the articulating femoral, tibial and patellar bones.

What Are The Signs and Symptoms Of A Failed Knee Replacement

Often times, it takes several months for you to start feeling better after a knee surgery. Your body needs proper time to heal itself. Unfortunately for those with failing Persona Knee implants, ongoing pain will continue, lack of mobility will be experienced along with instability of the knee, and significant inflammation will occur.

When these items occur, you will need to be re-examined by your orthopedic surgeon, and may need to have the part removed and replaced. This is commonly referred to as revision surgery. In the event that revision surgery is needed, it is critical that the proper arrangements are made in order to save the medical device, or parts that were removed or replaced as this is important evidence in any potential lawsuit.
