During his second year of law school, Mr. Kagan co founded Florida Doctors Insurance Company. After raising 12.5M in funding, he was part of a team that started the insurance company from the ground up, taking the rates and policy information through the department of insurance.
In 2008, he left Florida Doctors Insurance Company to launch a novel product, Complication Insurance, to help people self-insure the risks of a surgical procedure. For this new product, Mr. Kagan developed policy language, rates, and all product specifics from scratch, found an international insurance company to partner with and write the product, and got the product admitted in over 30 states. Unfortunately, due to a weak economy, he shut the business down in 2010.
In 2010, he founded Kagan Law Firm with his partner, Liz Kagan. He has represented over 33 NFL players in various litigation, and is certified by the NFLPA as a contract advisor. Mr. Kagan also handles a variety of personal injury cases including auto accidents and wrongful death. Mr. Kagan also has a 2-15 insurance license.
In his spare time, he enjoys traveling, fishing, flying helicopters (Commercial Helicopter license holder) and spending time with friends and family.
